Housing Associations Work Together for the Community

Western Challenge Housing Association and Swaythling Housing Society will be working in partnership to recruit a Community Project Worker.

Both Associations have properties in the Millbrook and Lordshill areas of Southampton and the postholder will be required to work with residents from both Associations. The main remit of the job will be to work with residents in gaining entry into training, employment and to support projects that improve issues surrounding health, crime and education.

Mike Collis, Community Development Manager at Western Challenge said: "Both Associations recognised that there was a need for a Community Worker that could devote their time to working with residents living in Millbrook and Lordshill. Rather than recruiting two separate members of staff to work in the same patch it made sense to join our resources and share the post. We are committed to working communities and this initiative will, I'm sure, open up new opportunities for residents."

The post holder will be required to work closely with individuals on a one to one basis as well as with groups of residents to encourage resident involvement, build capacity and increase the confidence of residents.  The post also requires working with relevant organisations and agencies operating in West Southampton to assist in meeting project objectives.

For further information about the post please go to the Radian website or contact Mike Collis on 01425 283621.

Swaythling is a member of the Radian Group.
