Ivor Goodsite Visits School to Give Some Sound Advice
Ivor Goodsite visited a school in Poole to give the message to children – Think Safe – Be Safe.
The visit was organised with staff at Turlin Moor Community School in Poole, together with Poole Housing Partnership and contractors Signpost Services.
Charlie Way, Electrical Contracts Manager for Signpost Services advised children on several aspects of electrical safety including how to be safe at Christmas by ensuring that Christmas Tree lights aren’t left on and sockets overloaded. The children were also able to see (and hear!) the difference in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Ivor Goodsite was on-hand to answer any questions.
Sue Westcott, Headteacher at Turlin Moor Community School said, “This was a great opportunity to work with Signpost Services who is carrying out electrical works on several houses in our community to speak to children in a fun way about electrical safety.”
Signpost Services is currently carrying out electrical rewires, testing and upgrades as part of a Safe as Houses contract run by Poole Housing Partnership. The contract has already delivered 1,250 rewires and 2,500 upgrades and tests to Poole homes over the past five years, with a further 500 rewires and 1,000 upgrades and tests planned over the next two years.
Charlie Way added,” We wanted to teach children about electrical safety and Ivor Goodsite provided a fun way of achieving this. We hope that the children enjoyed our visit and also learnt that if they Think Safe – They’ll be safe.”
Signpost Services is a winner in the Considerate Constructors Scheme which is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three main categories: the environment, the workforce and the general public. More information can be found at
