Listen to our website

Browsealoud is a new feature available for this website which reads aloud our web pages. The service is intended to enable people with mild visual impairments, low literacy skills or dyslexia and those who do not speak English as their first language to access our website. The service can be accessed by downloading the free plug-in from the Browsealoud website, which will let you hear the text on our site, and other Browsealoud-enabled sites, as spoken word.

How does Browsealoud work?

After downloading the plug-in, run the software and a control bar will appear. You can either use the controls to listen to the site or simply hover over the content that you wish to read by using your mouse.

There is also an option to visualise the words which are being spoken in large lettering at the top of the screen. The Browsealoud software can also be configured in such a way that a choice of voice styles and colour schemes can be used to make web browsing the spectrum website easy and enjoyable.

Downloading Browsealoud:

Click on the link and you will be taken to the Browsealoud website where you will find full Instructions to carry out the download and installation. A Browsealoud icon will be placed in your system tray which is at the bottom right of your browser.

For further help and assistance with the Browsealoud product take a look at the Browsealoud Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on their website.
